Train ride to Venice

Our train ride from Florence to Venice

So those of you who know me and know my travel habits, you know that I am usually the one who gets to the airport with only a couple minutes to spare. Because of this it has been a long time since I have had to wait for anything but today was an exception. In my defence, this was the first time I’ve ever traveled by train in Europe but what a surprise when Sheryl and I first saw the arrival and departure screens with showed every single train was running late. To compound matters, the desk clerk at the hotel mentioned this to Sheryl who was now enjoying the “I told you so” moment with me. The next hour and a half had us standing (every chair was taken) until we finally saw our train arrive.

The next two hours though had us relaxing as our train sped towards Venice.

Two hours later we arrived in Venice. Our cruise ship, the Azamara Quest was now only a 15 minute walk away. An hour an a half later later we arrived at the ship, hot sweaty and in need of a shower and some rest. Let’s just say the signage to the ship was not very clear and our first tour of the Venice port was not like the brochure.

We did make it though and once refreshed and fed we were ready to take on Venice (tomorrow after a good 8 hours sleep)

  1. Hmm!! Those suitcases do look a little bigger than carry on! Look out for Andy. I think he's in Venice also.
